Time for the family to put your hiking boots on. Visit Algonquin Park, the first provincial park in Ontario. As one of the largest provincial parks, Algonquin is diverse and offers something for the beginner hiker to advanced. Try the Spruce Bog boardwalk - 1.5 km loop trail that gives you an excellent close-up look of two typical northern spruce bogs. For the advanced hiker try Mizzy Lake - 10.8 km trail with access to nine ponds and small lakes and affords some of the best chances to see wildlife in the Park.
With a breathtaking 360 degree view, the observation deck of The Dorset Lookout Tower stands 142 metres (465 feet) above Lake of Bays. The original tower was built in 1922, was 25 metres high (82 feet) and used as a fire lookout tower until 1961. The current tower was built in 1967 and is 30 metres high (100 feet) and was erected for visitors to enjoy the view. Opens Victoria Day Long Weekend.
